Back to School 2016

Four ways to stay in style this fall

Whether you’re heading to high school or college, back to work for the fall or are a teacher returning to the classroom, Mainstream Boutique at Dawley Farms has something to complete every outfit.

Owner Julie Fischbach showed us some easy ways to update your look.

Kimono craze

Heading back to school? High school and college girls are loving kimonos. “They’re light-weight and we’ve been selling a lot of them for senior pictures,” Julie said. “It’s like that one additional layering piece. They want something that looks a little different, so they throw on a colorful kimono.”

On-trend colors

Popular colors this fall include purple, plum, sage green, mauve and blush, Julie said. “And lots of camo is still continuing,” she added. “Plus frayed bottoms, any kind of distressed bottom, and the embroidery trend is continuing as well.”

Popular tops

A new top is an easy update to your fall wardrobe. Mainstream is selling “a lot of floral tops, and a lot of tops with ruffle detail,” Julie said. “And cold-shoulder tops are still very popular. We have some shirts that just have a little slit in the arm, or a little ruffle, so they’re just fun, on-trend tops that aren’t expensive and that you can wear to work or school.”

Denim still rules

Denim likely is the trend that’s here to stay. “It’s always a hot item, and we carry a lot of different denims from all price points and lots of different washes and bottoms,” Julie said. “The latest trend is do-it-yourself denim, where if they’re too long you can literally cut them.”
